What Kuttner could learn from facts

I wish I had blogged this first. Saturday the Boston Globe ran an Op Ed column by Robert Kutter entitled ‘What Bush could learn from Lincoln’ praising Lincoln and contrasting Lincoln’s wartime performance in office with Bush. In my view the remark that most showed ignorance was this little gem:
Despite civil insurrection, Lincoln resisted broad intrusions on democratic rights. Bush runs roughshod over liberties.
I’m sure the elected representatives of the Maryland legislature would disagree with Kuttner, since by force Lincoln kept them out of session for the whole war.

The bogus historical perspective of Kutter’s column attracted the attention of bloggers John Rosenberg and Scott Hinderaker, who each gave it a well deserved slice and dice treatment. Well done.

Here is yet another example of substandard content rating space on the Globe Op Ed page.
