But God proves his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.
For you know the gracious act of our Lord Jesus Christ, that for your sake he became poor although he was rich, so that by his poverty you might become rich.

I applaud Buckner for laying the blame for his decades-long personal turmoil right at the doorstep of the media. Well done, and spot-on.
For all the verbiage about forgiving Buckner, the fact remains he was capable of making the play and he blew it. It may have been a tied game but his gaffe made it a Mets win.
As far as media abuse of a New England sports competitor, what Buckner got was less from the media than from fans. And as far as forgiveness goes, will the media (and fans) admit being wrong in smearing Reche Caldwell with their constant inferences that he cost the Patriots the AFC Title in 2006, and their periodic inferences that the Patriots were wrongh in the Deion Branch brouhaha even though he was out of line and got what he deserved from them?
