In mid-May my beloved wife began a dizzying series of medical tests that last Friday determined she was suffering from cancer. Because of this, I no longer desire to blog.
My sincere thanks to all readers of this blog; past, present, and future.

I am so sorry to hear the terrible news! On a personal note, I pray for a successful outcome to your wife's treatment.
On a selfish note, I will miss your commentary!
Harry, my prayers are with your wife, you and your family. Don't give up hope, stay positive, always look on the bright side...it will help her as well as you.
My prayers are with you.
John
An Irish Blessing
I wish you not a path devoid of clouds,
nor a life on a bed of roses,
Nor that you might never need regret,
nor that you should never feel pain.
No, that is not my wish for you.
My wish for you is this:
That you might be brave in times of trials,
When others lay crosses upon your shoulders.
When mountains must be climbed and chasms are to be crosses;
When hope can scare shine through.
That every gift God gave you might grow along with you.
And let you give the gift of joy to all who care for you.
That you may always have a friend who is worth that name.
Whom you can trust,
and you help you in times of sadness.
Who will defy the daily storms of life at your side.
One more wish I have for you.
That in every hour of joy or pain you may feel God close to you.
This is my wish for you, and for who care for you.
This is my hope for you now and forever.
So sorry to hear, Harry. God bless both of you and best of luck.
Your blog and your insights were great - my favorite site. 47 years and I can't stop reading the Globe - it is too amusing.
Best wishes to you and the Missus - hope we hear from you some time future.
May God bless your family. I certainly understand what your priorities must be. Please let me thank you for providing us such an effective supplement to the Globe. Please do not give up your blog. Just suspend it.

Your wife will be in my prayers. Please alert us as to her progress via the blog (even though you won't be covering the Globe stuff).
Harry,
Sorry to hear this disturbing news regarding your wife. I too will keep the both of you in my prayers.
Thanks for all your efforts at providing so many of us with your keen insights into the spewings from Morrissey Boulevard.
The technology needed to deal with this is marvelous, and geographically you are exactly where you want to be. God Bless, and we will all be pulling for you. It would be too selfish to ask that you keep working on this blog, and you are doing the right thing by pulling back. However, as was mentioned above, this is a good place to keep us all informed about your wife...if you choose to do so.
Best of luck to you and your wife dealing with this.
I've enjoyed your blog over the past couple of years, but now you have more important things to devote your energies to.
I'm sorry to hear that, Harry, but please know that you and your wife will be in my prayers.
I wish your wife successful treatment and full recovery. Thank you for being so generous with your time in providing this blog. It was part of my daily reading. You will be in my thoughts.
Oh Harry - I'm so sorry. You and your wife will be in my prayers. That is so tough.
Harry,
Embarrassingly enough, I'm just reading this now. This is terrible news. All the best to your wife and your family. We are thinking about you.
Dear Harry,
My prayers are with you and your dear wife. May she soon be back in the pink of health.

Your blog was jewel in cyberspace. I looked forward to reading it every day. No one has ever held the Globe's feet to the fire as well as you. Thank you.
I am not usually a spiritual person but I am praying for your wife.
Harry
You are right that you need to be with your wife now and I wish you the best.
How would you feel about someone else carrying the torch here for a while? Do you have an email where I could contact you?
Marty
We're supposed to allow you to show complete disrespect for same-sex couples and yet we're supposed to turn around and have sympathy for your spouse? You can be obsessively toughminded when it comes to my partnership, but then the reader is supposed turn all soft when it comes to your partnership?
I can guess how hard it is for you. My prayers are with both of you. Take Care.
